LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

Throughout this course we have been able to see and understand the importance of culture when we teach a language.  Culture is bonded to language forever, and it changes daily depending on your ethnicity, background, name, neighborhood, and many others.  Language on its own is the way we can speak. read or write but if we have no knowledge of the culture of the language being spoken it`s not a complete learning. So culture should be taught as one in language. When learning French nothing better to submerge yourself in to a country where you can speak the language and learn about the culture. To be able to experience knowledge of what you’re learning.  I think this blog should have useful information from what we`ve worked in so I atatch some of my works to be read and understood a little better.

What is Culture and why should it be taught?
Culture is what is lived daily, we can see , feel and sense culture everywhere we go it`s very easy to notice culture. Culture should be part of each class in any language in this case we speak about English , so students shouldn’t just learn a language they should learn a culture. That if they visit U.S.A they can know something about what`s going on there. That they can explain stuff about English. Culture is a mixture of traditions, religion , family situation and many more depends on the place of where each person lives or the environment they grow in. Without the teaching of culture in any aspect, the whole teaching experience wouldn’t be totally reached or finished.

Language and culture was known to be something separate because it had no sense in being one, back in the day. Language and culture have more in common than we used to know. In this essay I will talk about language, culture and how they work better combined. “To speak a language is to take on a world, a culture.”   Frantz Fanon

Language is the way people communicate with others, through a speaking or a written way. This only language time is known as the time of `linguistic applied´ which is only a language goal. This means that it worries only about the necessity of language, of speaking of being heard of being understood in terms of language.  This time language could not be considered as a group with nothing else than just the language, the sense of communicating. Language needs to be mixed with other things to work better.
Culture in the other hand is different for every person, according to their place of living or environment. Culture can define many people around the world, in my opinion each family has their own culture even if they belong to the same region, city, town or country. Culture is a big word to fit with all the traditions from each family. Culture can`t be by itself it needs a communication sense to it.
Language and culture together form what is called `applied linguistic´ this is the necessity of a perfect combination. When culture is put in a combined relationship with language is a true help for any speaker to be able to have a more social life. You communicate not only by speaking but through knowledge about different cultures and their ways of saying things. I can say something like is that yours ? so simple but it says more the way I say this. To every person the way you say thing is very important is a social thing of how they feel things are being said. This combination is very useful because is a mix of speaking and knowledge of different aspects of human life. Culture is more to just traditions is to knowing what is good in a country and what can be disrespectful to say in another.
My conclusion is language is not good as an alone island. Culture is the knowledge we need to have a better language. To communicate better we need this mix of language and culture.
